After a lovely half term break we have returned to school ready to work hard and excited to start practising our Christmas play.
In literacy we have enjoyed reading the book On the Way Home by Jill Murphy and used this to create a brand new chapter for the text.
In maths we have begun to look at subtraction focusing on part whole models and the related subtraction facts.
In science we started our new topic - Materials. We investigated a range of materials such as wood, metal, glass, fabric, plastic and stone. We sorted them in different ways such as whether they were hard or soft, shiny or dull, rough or smooth and opaque or transparent.
In topic we had fun looking at aerial photographs of the Earth, Europe, the United Kingdom, Liverpool and Booker Avenue using Google Earth. We used aerial maps to locate and label physical and human features.
We really enjoyed looking at our own house photographs to help us create paintings of our homes. We used this as an opportunity to investigate primary colours red, blue and yellow and see which secondary colours could be made when mixing two together.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
