We had a lovely week celebrating Maths Week! We all made Maths Monsters to represent data about our classes. They are now on display in our School Hall, and we are very proud of them!
Year Two Monsters:
-Pentagon for a body.
-Children looked to see which eye colour was the most popular colour in their class, and the number of this eye colour was the number of eyes our monsters had.
-If the class has more girls, the mouth will be a semi-circle, if there are more boys then the mouth will be a circle. If there is an equal number, the mouth will be a square.
-The number of teeth will be the number of children who walk to school, and then doubled.
-The number of legs is the number of children who are 7.
-For the hair, the number of girls are in one colour, and the number of boys are in another.
Year One Monsters:
-Rectangle for a body.
-Children to find out what colour eye their teacher has, and then count how many children also have that colour. This is how many eyes the monster has.
-If the class has more girls, the mouth will be a semi-circle, if there are more boys then the mouth will be a circle. If there is an equal number, the mouth will be a square.
-The number of teeth will be the number of children who walk to school.
-The number of legs is the number of children who are 6.
-For the hair, the number of girls are in one colour, and the number of boys are in another.
Reception Monsters:
-Circle for a body.
-If their teacher has brown eyes, the monster has 3 eyes. If their teacher has green eyes, the monster will have 5 eyes. If their teacher has blue eyes, the monster has 1 eye.
-If the class has more girls, the mouth will be a semi-circle, if there are more boys then the mouth will be a circle. If there is an equal number, the mouth will be a square.
-The number of teeth is the number of children who walk to school.
-The number of legs is the number of children who are five.
-For the hair, children decided which hair colour is most popular in their class. Brown hair = 6 pieces of hair
Black hair = 8 pieces of hair
Blonde hair = 5 pieces of hair
Red hair = 4 pieces of hair
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
