Dentist Visit
Reception have had a busy first week back after their well deserved break.
This week we have introduced our new topic 'We Are Explorers'. The children have enjoyed getting busy in the Rainforest role play areas and Arctic small worlds.
In phonics this week the children have recapped sounds and began to explore capital letters, S,A,T,I,P and N.
They have learnt their first alternative sound - y making the ee sound.
We have been focusing on recognising and reading out tricky words this week. A word bank is being sent home to encourage this at home. Please check your child's book bag for more details on this.
In maths this week the children have recapped one more and one less.
On Thursday we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of Dentists and Nurses into our school to talk about the importance of Oral Hygiene. The afternoon was filled with lots of fun activities to embed our understanding. We know that we have to brush our teeth twice a day (after breakfast and before bed) using a fluoride toothpaste. We now know foods that are good for our teeth and foods/ drinks that may cause our teeth damage.
