In Year Two this year phonics is playing a large part. The teaching of Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar runs throughout the Year 2 school day. Phonics support our reading, spelling and our writing. If you a wondering how to fill a quiet moment nothing is more beneficial than reading. We understand how busy you all are. Allow your child to have a look at their book independently. They may be able to decipher things independently and they will be so proud showing you what wonderful readers the are.

Alien or Nonsense words
Please find below what we call in school Alien words or Nonsense words.
These allow the children to further practise the sounds they know with made up words. If you are working on a particular sound with your child you can create your own nonsense words for them to practise with; they could even help you.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
