It has been wonderful to welcome all of the children back after the festive break and we have had such a busy first week!
In literacy we have been reading The Great Storm Whale by Benji Davies and we created some wonderful setting descriptions describing what we might see, hear, feel, taste and touch on a beach.
In maths we looked at number between 10 and 20 focusing on the number of tens and ones in each number.
Our topic this half term is Weather in the U.K. and we enjoyed participating in a nature walk around the grounds looking for items on the floor that we could attach to a journey stick.
In science we looked at plant parts including the roots, stem, flower and leaves. We planted a variety of plants and discussed why they would need to be kept in the classroom at the moment.
In DT we have been learning about fruit. We sorted a variety of fruit and vegetables between two plates . If they had seeds they were placed on the plate labelled 'fruit' or if there were no seeds they were placed on the other plate labelled 'not a fruit.' We discussed our favourite fruits and apples seem to be one of the most popular!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
