Year 1 have had another busy week learning so many new things.
In literacy we started the fantastic book The Tiger Who Came To Tea. We created a menu that included all of the foods that appeared in the text, from pots of tea, to delicious sandwiches and tasty buns.
In maths we started our journey into addition looking at parts and wholes and used lots of practical equipment to help our understanding.
In art we created sketches of Booker Avenue linking our whole topic together looking at the country, city and streets we live in.
We had great fun in science as we continued to focus on our senses. This week we concentrated on the five elements that make up taste - sweet, salty, sour, bitter and savoury/umami. We were given five different foods and challenged to label them appropriately. The chocolate was easy to label but the lettuce made us think a bit more.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
