December is such a busy time in Year One!
In literacy we have enjoyed exploring our new book - In Every House on Every Street. We have really enjoyed its rhyming pattern and the beautiful pictures.
In maths we have continued looking at shape, concentrating on 2d shapes and their properties.
In science we carried out an investigation looking at which materials would make the best curtains. We experimented with tin foil, fabric, cling film and black card. We discovered that the black card kept out the most light and the cling film kept out the least amount of light. Some of us even knew we had blackout curtains at home!
In geography we continued to look at our playground and the maps we had made in our previous lesson. We then discussed how we felt about certain features of our playground and why we felt this way.
We have begun to get ready for our Christmas lunch next week. We all made a table decoration from junk modelling and had great fun making snowmen, sleighs and Santa himself!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
