This week the children shared the story 'Milly the Meerkat'. They have learned about the conditions of the desert and about the plants and animals that live there. The children have used a range of non-fiction texts and internet research to find out about and write information on the desert. The children have been very creative outside using a range of resources to make desert animals.
In Jolly Phonics the children continue to be introduced to capital letters and recapped on their knowledge of tricky words. We reinforced trigraphs air, ear, igh and ure.
We have spent the week enjoying the celebration of Chinese New Year. We had role play areas set up in our classrooms for the children to enjoy a Traditional Chinese New Year celebration with friends. We read the story and recognised it is the year of the Dragon.
The children celebrated the week with a Chinese Banquet and a visit from Liverpool Chinese Lion Dancers. They all had a fabulous time and particularly enjoyed using chopsticks!
