At Booker Avenue Infants we want to encourage a love of reading. Children throughout the school start the day with 'Reading for Pleasure'. They are able to choose a book or comic that interests them from the class library. Every class has a well stocked reading area with books being changed and restocked on a regular basis. The Year Two Librarians have the responsibility of changing class reading books across the school.
The children had a brilliant time when our grown ups were invited into class to share a book. The children could share their favourite class library book as well as some well choosen literacy gems from our school library. A lot of our children shared the book that their class was currently immersed in and told their parents what they had found out about each book thanks to their exploration. A lot of children and grown ups fround a cozy corner in each class reading area and just simply enjoyed special time with a book. The children were allowed to take a book home for the night to further enjoy pleasurable reading with their most important adults.
