Over the last few weeks we have been working together as a school to design a bench fit to be on display during the coronation of the King. Our entry has been submitted today, and if we win, our design will be used to create a real bench that will be ready and in use in London for the coronation!
The front of the bench shows a tree with four books each with words that represent our hopes for the future. The Liver Bird sits central on the trunk to show how proud we are of our city.
On the back, we have featured some endangered animals and these represent the hopes we have to save our planet! We also have a rainbow which was a symbol of hope during COVID, and the children thought it was important to show this on our bench. We also have people to symbolise key workers and 'togetherness'. The crown is also there to represent hope and courage for the future.
On one side, we have a recycling bin with wild flowers and insects, to show the importance of sustainability and protecting our local environment. On the other side, we have the ocean with some sea creatures, showing the love for our oceans and the need to protect them for future generations.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
