We have had an extremely busy week in Year One.
in literacy we have continued to look at the book Little Red Riding Hood and started to think about what we would take in a picnic basket. We wrote our shopping lists for some super sandwiches although chocolate spread with tuna and cheese might not be something 'Grandma' would want!
In maths we have been investigating making and adding equal groups as well as learning about arrays as part of our multiplication and division topic.
We were very lucky to receive a visit from Mrs Fanning the school governor. She helped us with our history lesson investigating toys from the past. She shared with us some of her toys from when she was a child and talked about what she enjoyed playing with.
Our focus in science this half term is plants. We looked at a variety of plants using hand lenses identifying the flower, stem, leaves and roots. We learned about the purpose of each of these parts and noticed how different they can look from plant to plant.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
