We started a new book this week in literacy called Peace at Last by Jill Murphy. We enjoyed listening to poor Mr Bear’s challenge of trying to get a good night’s sleep. We used the dictionary to look up some vocabulary we were unsure of and finally we wrote a new chapter for the book predicting what we thought may happen next.
In maths we continued to focus on place value and comparing numbers. We used the maths symbols < > = to complete our number sentences.
In science we looked at the cycle of deciduous trees throughout the different seasons of the year. Some of us were able to discuss the different deciduous and evergreen trees we have in our garden.
In history we have been looking at how we celebrate special events in our family such as birthdays. We enjoyed sharing information about the parties we have and what we eat at these events.
The Year One yard has received a make over in the last week and we have enjoyed spending time in it during our Active Play sessions. Some of us chose to use the equipment, some of us chose to tackle some maths challenges and some of us enjoyed the writing and geography challenges.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
