We have had an exciting week in Year One. We began our new non-fiction book about the explorer Ernest Shackleton. We learned about his expedition on the Endurance and his incredible achievements to get his men to safety.
In maths we have been focusing on numbers between 50 – 100. We looked at partitioning numbers into tens and ones.
In science we read the Gruffalo then looked carefully at animal footprints. We used our super science skills to measure and record the length of each footprint and predicted which animal they could be from.
In Design and Technology, we continued our topic on cooking and nutrition and made smoothies. We investigated a variety of fruits and learned how to cut and juice them safely.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
