This week we began a brand new book, Clean Up by Nathan Bryan and Dapa Adeola. The book focuses on pollution in the sea and the damage this causes to the wild life. We decided we would like to write a letter to the mayor about keeping Liverpool litter free. To prepare for this we looked at a variety of letters and noticed the key features that each of these letters had such as the sender's address at the top right, the date, and the use of the word 'Dear.'
In science we started to look at the five senses and discussed how these senses can help keep us safe. We focused this week on touch and taste. We tried foods that were salty, sweet, sour and bitter. Many of us were surprised to find that not all chocolate is sweet. Some of us in Year One even managed to achieve a New Year's Resolution by trying our very first lemon!
