Inspired by the book Clean Up, Year One decided to write to the Mayor of Liverpool to request our local beaches be cleaned up as well. We focused on the layout of our letter ensuring the address, date, Dear and From were in the correct place and we considered the structure of our letter carefully.
In maths we focused on place value of numbers up to 50. We identified how many tens and ones were in each number and began to use a 50 grid to help with our counting.
In science we continued to work on our sense of smell trying to identify a number of 'mystery' smells. Some of them were easy to work out such as toothpaste but others were slightly trickier like garlic.
On Wednesday we took part in International Lego Day. Year One had to work in groups to make the tallest person out of Lego. We created our design on paper first, we then built it, and afterwards we reviewed our creations, identifying what went well and what we would change next time.
