This week we began our new book Clean Up by Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola. We had fantastic discussions about the importance of keeping our beaches free from litter.

In maths we have been working on our addition and subtraction skills within 20. We have been using a number of different methods to support our calculations such as number lines, tens frames and part-whole models.

In science we continued to work on our senses, focusing on the sense of taste this week. We sampled a variety of foods to identify if it was sweet, sour, bitter or salty. Many of us expected to find the chocolate to be sweet but were surprised it was bitter. Only a few us like dark chocolate! We pulled some super faces when we were trying the very sour lemons.

We were very lucky to receive a visit from Knowsley Safari Park who gave us the opportunity to work on our classification skills. After investigating a variety of bones, skulls and even smelling tiger urine, we were given the challenge of identifying individual animals through their markings. We did a fantastic job and there are definitely some future zoologists amongst us!
