This week Year One have completed our first Big Write, retelling the story of Dogger. We broke the story up into three clear parts – beginning, middle and end. We remembered the importance of capital letters, full stops and fingers spaces and created some fantastic pieces of writing.

In maths we investigated addition fact families and find that we could move an addition number sentence around. We also looked at our number bonds within 10.

In science we became weather forecasters and created our own weather forecast for the United Kingdom.

In history we revisited the similarities of birthdays in the past and birthdays in the present. We had fun thinking about what birthdays may look like in the future, particularly with technology. We then learned about time capsules and created a whole class one including a class photo, a piece of work from this week, our signatures and a list of our favourite television programs. Once this was complete we passed the time capsules to Miss Bookey in Year 2 and we will open it up this time next year!
