Year One have continued to look at the book Aladdin this week. We thought of three new wishes Aladdin could make to help him at different parts of the story. We demonstrated our fantastic imaginations with ideas including turning the evil magician into a frog or wishing for a secret portal to help him escape from the cave.
In maths we began our new topic of fractions. We found out that a half meant splitting something into two equal parts. We then investigated different ways we could fold a variety of shapes in half.
In science we concluded our topic of Plants. We revisited our science investigation to see if peas or beans need water to grow and concluded that they certainly did! Our final science lesson of this half term involved looking at the different plants we eat and which part of the plant they were. We found out that a carrot is a root, celery is a stem, lettuce is a leaf and a tomato is a fruit.
