Winnie the Pooh Day

To celebrate National Winne the Pooh Day on 18th January children brought in their favourite bear from home. Children across the school shared stories and were introduced to the characters from the books.

EYFS

Children in Reception enjoyed a teddy bears picnic! They made jam sandwiches and paw print biscuits! They learnt and sang some bear songs and played a traditional playground game with a twist!

Year 1 enjoyed showing their special teddy bears around their classrooms and the bears enjoyed snuggling with the children during our Reading for Pleasure time. After learning that Christopher Robin was actually based on A.A. Milne's real son and Winnie the Pooh was his real bear we talked about why our bears were so special to us. The children then started work on a teddy puppet based on their teddies at home. Some are even called Winnie.

Year Two had fun on Winnie the Pooh day imagining what might happen if Winnie the Pooh met the bears from the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In the afternoon we spent time sketching our bears paying close attention to proportion and shading.
