Today, Mrs Ismail brought in some African artefacts from Somalia where her mum grew up. She brought in herdo and dhil. The herdo is used for carrying milk and separating the milk from the cream. The dhil is used for eating. We also looked at the patterns carved into the sides and then at patterns on African materials and how these patters were linked to different tribes and groups of people. Afterwards we had fun making some African masks, which we learnt were used to identify different tribes as well as to ward off danger and also during Celebrations.
